Can Stormflow Surfacing be installed onto the following materials?
Wood: YES, the urethane binding agent that is used penetrates the wood giving an immense grip
Steel: YES
Aluminum: YES, the aluminum must be specially primed and then re-primed
Concrete: YES
Asphalt: YES
Compacted aggregate: YES
Crushed concrete, crushed asphalt, crushed marble are fine, limestone products are not acceptable as they will become less porous over time.
Enamel tile: YES, the tile has to be acid-etched prior to priming
Fiberglass: YES, the fiberglass surface must be made coarse in finish and primed with flat primer
Is Stormflow Surfacing resistant to the following materials?
Chlorine: YES
Ozone: YES,for pools which use ozonation
Bromine: YES, for pools which use bromine instead of chlorine
Muriatic acid: YES
Salt water: YES
Oil: YES
Transmission fluid: YES
Hydraulic fluid: YES
Is Stormflow Surfacing slip-resistant?
YES: This ADA Compliant surface is composed of thousands of rubber granules giving it incredible non-slip qualities.
Will Stormflow Surfacing crack?
Because of the elastic properties of the rubber chips, porous pave can expand and contract making it stronger to resist cracking or crumbling

Will Stormflow Surfacing have to be resealed because of ultraviolet light breakdown?
NO – Unlike two-part epoxy resins, the products are bound together with a single component urethane that has the same durometer as that of the rubber granule and which is totally resistant to UV degradation.
Will Stormflow Surfacing fade in time with exposure to the sun?
YES: Everything fades at certain speeds with continual exposure to sunlight and obviously at different speeds depending upon your location, Stormflow Surfacing has UV inhibitors in the colorization process of the rubber granules therefore giving longevity to color-fastness.
Is Stormflow Surfacing “porous”?
YES: The permeable paving product is manufactured using a nominal 1/4″ – 3/8″ rubber granule which creates a highly porous material due to the “open-pore” design, Stormflow Surfacing has approximately 29% void space making it one of the most porous surfacing products on the market!
Do freeze-thaw conditions affect the integrity of Stormflow Surfacing?
NO: It is like one large and continuous expansion and contraction joint – because of the elastic properties of the urethane and the compression capabilities of rubber, the pressure that is exerted by freezing water does not interfere with the mechanical strength of the products.
Does Stormflow Surfacing smell?
Can Stormflow Surfacing be installed in the rain?
NO: Stormflow Surfacing is a moisture-cured permeable paving product and mixing it in the rain would cause the product to stiffen and make it impossible to work with, rain cannot occur within six hours of applying Stormflow Surfacing – after six hours rain is no longer a concern.
How long does Stormflow Surfacing take to cure?
Under normal conditions it is recommended that a period of 24 hours be allowed.
What temperature can Stormflow Surfacing be installed in?
5º – 32º Celcius (40º – 90º F)
Can you use a shovel on Stormflow Surfacing to remove snow?
Yes, traditional snow and ice removal methods work with Stormflow Surfacing and are safe to use. Ice & Snow can be removed safely with any shovel or snowblower. Snow removal may be done by snow plow, provided the plow is equipped with a shoe to avoid damage. The plow shoes keep the plow blade slightly above the surface. We recommend homeowners ask plow companies to back drag driveways to prevent any damage as well.
Can I use salt on Stormflow Surfacing?
Salt is safe to use on your Stormflow Surfacing. One of the advantages of a permeable surface is that it makes snow and ice management easier. When the snow melts, water will go through the Stormflow Surfacing instead of staying on the surface. You won’t have to worry about water accumulating on your driveway, walkway or patio and freezing again.
Does Stormflow Surfacing require a maintenance overcoat?
Over time, in heavily used areas, the surface of any porous pavement can show signs of wear. Proper maintenance will certainly prolong the life of Stormflow Surfacing. Applying a top coat of binder after 5 years will restore the surface to “like new” condition. See Maintenance for more details.
